The Importance of Oxygen

By Christian Goodman

Recently while visiting Perth, Australia I was lucky enough to take in the most intense white sunlight compared to anywhere Ive ever been. It just creates a lightness in your heart and sould.

Lying on the beach and inhaling the fresh air, my mind traveled toward the importance of oxygen for our minds and bodies. It is absolutely necessary for good health. Lacking it can bring on a number of health issues.

It is common knowledge that we need energy to survive. Some of that is accomplished through the food we eat. However, oxygen is necessary to help convert the food into usable energy.

The body's cells convert oxygen to water which creates usable energy. Oxygen is delivered to the cells through hemoglobin.

We initiate this process through breathing. We inhale oxygen about 20 times per minute. It then needs to travel to the cells and lungs.

Oxygen comes in through the nose, passes through the throat, windpipe, chest finally making it's way to the lungs. Meanwhile, a number of other tubes track off also delivering oxygen to various cells.

Carbon dioxide is then released.

A disruption or break in this process results in various health problems.

A brain getting an inadequate supply of oxygen can result in headaches including migraines, dizziness and or vertigo.

Oxygen is also necessary to control weight. To burn fat (or anything else) three components must be in place: something to burn (like food), heat to burn it with and oxygen.

Breathing in a shallow manner can greatly reduce the amount of oxygen we are supplying our bodies with to burn the excess fat. Insufficient oxygen means the excess fat remains rather than gets burned.

Deep breathing increases the oxygen needed to burn fat. It also relaxes our bodies and reduces the stress we feel. This has the added benefit of helping to normalize blood pressure.

Improving oxygen flow can be learned. While breathing normally occurs without much thought, it helps to understand how to insure we are intaking adequate oxygen.

Think about improving your health as a trip. Great weather and a beautiful environment is less than 24 travel hours away. And health doesn't have to be an unreachable destination either.

My all natural health programs address the importance of oxygen to our bodies and maximizing this process. I am also overjoyed to share with you that I am working on an Alzheimer's program related to oxygen deprivation to the brain. You can find more information on all of my programs through the links on the right hand column of my alternative health blog.
