What You Need to Know About Pseudogynecomastia

By Dustin Fennell

Pseudogynecomastia in men is a quite common condition, referring to the enlargement of their breasts in a way that resemble to female breasts. The term pseudogynecomastia is used to differentiate this form from the genuine gynecomastia, a condition in which men develop breasts due to hormonal issues or drug abuse. The pseudo condition is natural and is caused by deposits of fat on the chest and breasts of men. The diagnosis is easy, in general, as the pseudo condition is associated with obesity.

In any case, pseudogynecomastia resembles a lot to the real one but it's not a disease and is not a medical case. This is the biggest difference with genuine gynecomastia and has nothing to do with hormonal imbalance, other medication and drugs. There could be some underlying medical condition causing pseudogynecomastia, but only if that condition actually helps fat accumulation.

This condition refers to enlarged breasts caused by excessive fats around the breast; the glandular tissue is normal though, thus, no medical treatment can be effective. Medicine and drug treatments are not an option. Men who suffer from this condition are usually adults and older men, although it is common among obese younger men and teenagers who eat a lot of junk food and do not spend much time in outdoor activities.

Most men who suffer from Pseudogynecomastia undergo some surgical operation in order to deal with their problem; the fact is though, that surgery can be a temporary fix, especially if they do not change anything in their lifestyle. The most important change they need to implement is change in diet, careful selection of foods and combinations and exercising. If the man remains obese, nothing, not even surgery can offer a permanent solution to the problem.

Liposuction is another method followed by men of all ages in order to deal with Pseudogynecomastia. However, this is also a temporary fix, unless it is combined with exercising. Although in liposuction surgery professionals remove fatty tissues, fat can accumulate again in the area if the man doesn't lose overall weight. Weight loss should be the top priority in this case.

Exercise is the safest and most effective method to treat Pseudogynecomastia; cardio exercises, swimming, jogging and weight lifting can help men burn fat faster, speed up their metabolism and lose weight. It does take a while to work but it's the best solution for those who want to avoid surgery and all potential costs and risks that come with it.

Pseudogynecomastia is a harmless condition, but it is really embarrassing and can have serious psychological effects on men, as it affects what they wear, the activities they participate or engage in. Men avoid wearing tight T shirts or shirts, avoid going to the sea or anywhere it might be required to remove their shirts. They use several tricks and techniques to make their chest look flatter, but in fact they have serious psychological and confidence problems that increase with time and can affect their relationships and their social behavior. Pseudogynecomastia is unattractive and men try to avoid intimate relationships and moments, fearing rejection and humiliation.

Treatment of pseudogynecomastia consists of diet and exercise and a healthy lifestyle; men who feel unable to deal with their weight and fat on their own can seek some professional help in order to get rid of additional weight and gynecomastia at the same time.
