Treating Candida Infection 101 - Antibiotic as Possible Yeast Infection Treatment?

By Salli Smith

As pollution grows gradually every day, our environment becomes less breathable and less safe to live on. We live hard and we die fast. The cycle keeps on repeating and on every cycle, things get harder and harder. As our lives continue, we become more vulnerable to different infections as more infections are introduced. In most instances, we cannot prevent being infected. This is why our lives are always at risk to infection. If we truly care about our lives, we must learn how to protect it.

Though infections are common, we should not ignore their presence and treat them as enemy. One infection that we should treat no matter what is yeast infection. Yeast infection may be acquired after sexual contact however it is not a sexually transmitted disease. This kind of infection is apparently common to women however it may also be found in men and children.

Yeast infection is treatable and it should be given more attention. The discomfort and pain it brings can sometimes be too severe and become less tolerable. Generally, infections are caused by bacteria and are treated with bacterial medications. However, are antibiotics effective for treating Candida Infection?

Before we answer the question, let's define first the word antibiotics. Most common people believe that antibiotics are use to kill or slow down the growth rate of bacteria. In medical term, they are antimicrobial compound for treating infections due to abnormal growth of microorganisms like bacteria, fungi and protozoa. This is why in some cases antibiotics are used for fungal infections. Yeast infection is a fungal infection however does this implies that antibiotics are effective for yeast infections?

As people that are constantly seeking knowledge, we must prepare ourselves from the thought that bacterial medications are far more different from fungal medications. These two medications are designed with different purposes and they treat different diseases.

Apparently, a person with yeast infection is not encouraged to ingest antibiotics or even apply antibiotics on the infected area. The explanation for this is antibiotics are considered one of the primary causes of yeast infection. This means that antibiotics can kill the good bacteria and hence disturb the natural balance of the microorganisms on the body, especially if the antibiotics are used inappropriately. In conclusion, antibiotics are not recommended as cure for yeast infection.
